The Joint Accelerator Conferences Website (JACoW) Collaboration has developed a Scientific Program Management System (SPMS).
The system is designed to manage all contributions to a conference program, from abstract submission through to the production of proceedings.
An interesting and unique feature of SPMS is the development of two modules:
An affiliations module, containing affiliation data, the addresses of around 2,000 laboratories, universities, institutes or companies carrying out activities in the field of accelerator technology.
A profiles module, containing >12,000 profiles of individuals active in the accelerator community, populated with data derived from PAC, EPAC and other JACoW collaboration conferences which have used the SPMS in recent years.
When authors submit a contribution to a JACoW conference, the system "recognizes" the contributor or owner of a profile, and proposes relevant data taken from that individual's profile, avoiding tedious and repetitive data entry for conference contributors, and extensive verification for organizers.
